Skin divers from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Dept. failed to come up with any new evidence in the Botham-Miracle murder cases Sunday, as they donned wet suits to search the Gunnison River bottom near Bridgeport.
Sheriff Dick Williams said a check at the river site is not planned today, and he wasn’t sure if he will use divers again.
Williams also said his office has made phone contact with Salt Lake City officials regarding Theodore Robert Bundy, picked up on Oct. 2 on a charge of aggravated kidnap and attempted criminal homicide on a Salt Lake girl last November.
He said they were checking for a possible tie-in to the murder case of Sandra Jean Weaver, whose body was found July 1974 in DeBeque Canyon, 16 miles east of Palisade.
Both Williams and City Police Capt. Ed Vandertook reported no new leads in the case of Denise Oliverson, missing since April.
Vandertook also said no new information has turned up in the stabbing deaths of Linda Benson and her daughter Kelley on July 25.
